Bonnie (Kezar) Mayes

MAYES (KEZAR), BONNIE – 63, died on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Allegiance Hospital in Jackson, Michigan. Bonnie showed perseverance throughout her life battling health problems for many years, always keeping a positive attitude and looking out for others before herself. She was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on December 6, 1947 to Newton and Margery Kezar. She met Jim Mayes while attending Michigan State University and seven months later, married the man with whom she would spend the next 43 years. Bonnie was a sweet, loving woman whose greatest treasure was her family. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She devoted her life to being the best mother and wife possible and she taught her children self confidence, independence, and compassion. Bonnie cherished her friendships along with her family and being a part of the Red Hat Ladies and getting together with “the girls” brought her joy. She will always be remembered for the overwhelming amount of love and support she blessed the people around her with. Bonnie is survived by her husband, Jim Mayes; her two sons, Scott (Mary Jo) Mayes, Mark Mayes; her two daughters, Kimberly (Larry Stalbaum) Asher and Niki (Kris) Jettner; seven grandchildren, Riley, Kiley, Hawk, Sky, Ben, Joshua and Arianna; her brother, Eddie (Sherry) Kezar and her sister-in-law, Alice Kezar. With respect to her final wishes, there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Red Cross in support of the relief effort in Japan. Her family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
