Carol Vanderhyde

VANDERHYDE, MRS. CAROL LYNN Cedar Springs Mrs. Carol Lynn Vanderhyde, age 67, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. She built, owned, and operated “Coiffures By Carol” in Kent City. Carol and her husband, David, shared a passion for horses; they loved watching foals raised on their farm grow up and race at harness tracks across the U.S. and Canada. Carol loved flowers and making flower arrangements. She spent many meditative hours painting, decorating, and tending to her gardens. While in Florida she spent countless happy hours on the beach enjoying the sun and taking long walks in search of the perfect seashell. When the Vanderhyde Family purchased a ranch in Colorado, Carol commented, “The boys can have Colorado, I’ll stay in Florida”. However, the beauty of the Sangre De Cristo’s soon changed her mind and she enjoyed spending time in both places. Her pride, affection and love of family were always evident and memories of special times together will be cherished forever. Her Courage, Strength, and Faith displayed while battling an aggressive and incurable cancer for nearly five years will serve as an example to us all and be a constant reminder that every day is indeed a gift. Carol was a member of the Michigan Harness Horseman’s Association and the U.S.T.A. (U.S. Trotting Association). She was a Member of Mary Queen Of Apostles, in Sand Lake. Carol is survived by David, her loving husband of 48 years; her sons, Davey (Debbie) Vanderhyde of Newaygo, and Chad Vanderhyde of Cedar Springs; special grandsons, Cody and Connor Vanderhyde of Newaygo; father, Thayne Robinson of Newaygo; brother, Alvin (Mary) Robinson of Cedar Springs; and nieces and nephews. Her mother, Florence (Emmons) Robinson; and brother, Calvin preceded her in death. A family service for Carol was held with the Rev. Joseph Kenshol presiding. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider: The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center At Duke, DUMC Box 3624, Durham, NC. 27710 or Mary Queen Of Apostles, 1 Maple Street, P.O. Box # 140, Sand Lake, MI. 49343. The Vanderhyde Family would like to thank all those who helped make Carol’s journey from this life to her next a peaceful one. Pederson Funeral Home, Rockford
