Douglas L. Parish

Douglas Lee Parish Sr., 76, passed away suddenly on September 15, 2013 in Kalamazoo, MI. He was born September 12, 1937 in Charlotte, MI, son of Edward (Pat) and Adeline (DeWaters) Parish. Doug was co-owner of Lansing Electric Motors. After his retirement he enjoyed driving part time for Metro Toyota. He was a member and past master of the Grand Ledge Masonic Lodge #179; member of Michigan Harness Horsemen’s Assoc., IBEW 665, and the National Electrical Contractors Assoc. Doug enjoyed and was very proud of his grandchildren. He loved watching his granddaughter play softball, cheering her on as her number one fan. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Doris, daughter Patti (Craig) VanWalback of Portage, son Steven (April) Parish of Grand Ledge; four grandchildren: David, Aimee, Matthew and Amber; great granddaughter Raelynn, and brother Jerry Parish. He was predeceased by son Douglas Jr. and his parents. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 19, 2013 – 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 411 Harrison St., Grand Ledge, MI 48837, with Rev. Troy Shaw officiating. The family will receive family and friends at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept. 18th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Temple Assoc. or the Wounded Warrior Project.
