On Friday April 19,2019, the Michigan Harness Horsemen’s Association notified the Michigan Gaming Control Board that the escrow balance transfer from the HBPA simulcast purse account was complete. A total $960,834.94 was transferred to the MHHA simulcast purse account to be used exclusively for purses for live horse racing at a license race meeting in this state, in accordance with 431.319(a) of the Horse Racing Act.
The MHHA Board of Directors will continue to work with Northville Downs to explore additional opportunities for racing.
As a reminder, the Michigan Gaming Control Board Executive Director issued an order on April 8, 2019 directing the transfer of all of the thoroughbred and quarterhorse purse pools funds to be transferred to the harness horsemen and the Michigan Harness Horsemen’s Association.
