Jack E. Calvert, 82, of Attica, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012. He was born February 13, 1930 in Lapeer to parents Esper and Grace (Ruddock) Calvert.
Jack loved harness horse racing and announcing races. He announced the races in Windsor, Ontario for years, moving on from that in1979. Mr. Calvert was well known throughout the United States by the Harness Horse Association. He had a voice and memory like no other. He continued to train horses and follow the fairs in Michigan until his death.
Jack will be dearly missed by his children: Jerry (Lynda) Calvert of Columbiaville, Marsha (Michael) Hirschfield of Shelby Twp., grandchildren: Sarah Calvert, Ty Calvert, Sean Hillman, Devin Hillman, brother: Jim (Brenda) Calvert of Attica, niece & nephews: Justin, Nathan, Chance and Mariah Calvert as well as the love of his life: Toni Darling. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be 4-8pm Friday, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Funeral mass will take place 11:00am Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, North Branch. Burial will be in Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery. http://www.MuirBrothersLapeer.com
