Jerry Permenter

JERRY WAYNE PERMENTER passed away in Hamilton, Alabama on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 with his wife, Carolyn Jane Permenter at his bedside. Jerry was born January 26, 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was the oldest child of William L. and Betty (Perkins) Permenter. The family resided in both Grand Cane, Louisiana and Center, Texas. Jerry lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan from 1983 to late 2007. While living in Kalamazoo, Jerry was employed by B & B Trucking for 25 years. A horseman all his life, from rodeo to show horses, from the late 1980’s through the 1990’s, Jerry actively trained and raced Standardbred horses. As much as he enjoyed the sport of harness racing, he even more enjoyed the friendships he made in the industry. One of Jerry’s most important roles in life was that of father of Jarrod D. Permenter of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Amy C. Permenter (Nathan Osborne) of Vicksburg, Michigan and grandfather of his precious granddaughter, Ella Mary Osborne who was the joy of his life. Jerry was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Hamilton, Alabama and his mother, Betty, brothers, Michael D. Permenter, James R. (Jan) Permenter and sister, Suzanne D. (Rex) Richards all of Center, Texas and Sharon Permenter of Kalamazoo, Michigan, mother of his children. Jerry is also survived by two stepdaughters, Heather (Chad) Chambers of Mason, Michigan and Shelley Sanborn and her son Dakota of Chandler, Arizona. A private graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 25, 2012 at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Hamilton, Alabama.
