It is with deep sadness that we report the recent passing of Richard C. Elconin (81) of Monroe on July 31, 2010. Dick was born on February 1, 1929 to David and Dorothy Elconin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He married Norma Fogel on June 22, 1958 and was her beloved husband for 52 years. He is also the cherished father of Elise (Steve) Elgin and Joel (Dr. Lisa) Elconin and the loving grandfather of Alexandra, Danielle and Sabrina Olgin and Dayna and Emilyn Elconin. Richard is the dear brother of Arline Greenblatt and Susan (Harvey) Feinberg. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A graduate of the University of Michigan undergraduate and law schools, Mr. Elconin practiced law in Monroe for more than 50 years and was the long-time Legal Counsel of the MHHA. Dick was instrumental in writing the Horse Racing Act of 1995 and was inducted into the Michigan Harness Racing Hall of Fame in 1996. The family of Richard C. Elconin will be gathering on the evening of Monday, August 2 and Tuesday, August 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the residence of David and Vicky Buckfire, 28512 S. Harwich, Farmington Hills, MI 48334 for friends to call. The phone number is 248-851-8334. It is suggested that those who wish to further honor the memory of Richard C.
