Willard G. Behm, age 89, of Adrian died Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Toledo Hospital.
He was born May 15, 1921, in Deer-field Township, Mich., to Robert and Wilhelmina (Jasmund) Behm. Willard graduated from Blissfield High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. On April 6, 1945, at Christ Church in Penge, England, he married Marjorie W. Fenoulhet, and she survives. Willard spent his life farming and at one time had the highest producing milk cow listed in the Guinness Book of Records. Willard for many years owned and raced numerous harness racing horses and was a member of the Harness Horseman Association. He was an avid baseball fan of the Stetson University in Deland, Fla. Willard had also served as a board member for Production Credit.
In addition to his wife, Marjorie, he is survived by one son, Gary Behm and his children, Jeffre (Kristi) and Tiffani (Greg); two daughters, Shayna (Steve) Pickle and their sons, Ryan and Chad; Shelley (Gregg) Hardy and their son, Parker; one brother, Harlan Behm of Riga; and one sister, Margaret Russell of Riga; and five great-grandchildren, Jeffre, Jagger, Jettsen, Morgan and Mallory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Nelson Behm; and one granddaughter, Kristin Lynn in infancy.
Funeral services for Willard will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Adrian Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Hudgins officiating. Burial will be in Tipton Cemetery with Full Military Honors conducted by the Annis-Fint VFW Post #1584. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Adrian Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Home.
