MHHA Call to Action: March 5, 2026!
Dear MHHA Members, County Fairs& Industry partners, The Regulatory Affairs Committee (11 Members) will consider House Bills 4346 & 4347 as early as next Thursday. Please review all these members and their districts. Please make support calls and send emails regardless of your district. Also encourage owners, trainers, drivers, breeders, local farmers, tack stores, vets, truck, tractor and trailer dealers, county fairs, local fair youth and any other Industry partners to communicate with the Committee. Be polite and professional and request their support, consideration and swift action. Passage of the Bills is time sensitive as passage prior to our 2026 Fair Season can benefit all 86 county fairs and Industry partners this summer. Sincerely,

March 4, 2026: House Bills 4346 and 4347 have been referred to the Regulatory Committee. This is an exciting and important step forward for our industry. The committee includes several legislators who have supported horse racing and Michigan agriculture in the past, and we are encouraged by the opportunity to present them with the benefits of these bills. The Michigan House of Representatives has officially passed House Bills 4346 and 4347 with strong bipartisan support, marking a significant step forward for Michigan’s horse racing industry and agricultural community. While this is an important milestone, the process is only halfway complete. The bills now advance to the Michigan Senate for further consideration.

MHHA Call to Action: January 16, 2026!Dear MHHA and MAFE Members, House Bills 4346-47 remain on the House Floor awaiting third reading and a vote of the House. Despite our Bills having bipartisan support and sponsorship these bills were not called up for a vote this week. To ensure these Bills have the opportunity to pass the Senate and be presented to the Governor prior to our breeding and county fair season we are humbly asking for urgency in the House of Representatives and your help. Revenues from HB4346-47 is desperately needed by many Michigan County Fairs to continue their historic annual fairs. We need your assistance immediately please. Please take the time to call your Michigan State Rep. today, this weekend or Monday at the latest. Your communication is critical to our success. Please be polite, professional and brief. We humbly request your support of HB4346 & 47 to support all Michigan County Fairs and the Michigan Horse Industry. These Bills are very important to my local fair, my farm and my family in ____________. These bills have been vetted by all 27 Michigan Casinos to ensure it doesn’t lead to additional gaming. They also include an amendment to prevent a decrease in our Michigan School Aid Fund. These bills have a high sense of urgency to allow for payments to fairs prior to our upcoming Michigan County Fair Summer season. These additional revenues and incentives are critical to the historical preservation of many Michigan Fairs and our Industry and we sincerely request your support to bring these bills up for a vote and passage.
